Jewelry Care

Care Instructions

  • Store properly: When not wearing your earrings, store them in a clean and dry place. It's best to keep them in a jewelry box or a PVC pouch with silica gel provided to prevent scratching or damage.
  • Avoid contact with chemicals: Avoid exposing your polymer clay earrings to harsh chemicals such as perfumes, alcohol, lotions, hairsprays, and cleaning products. These substances can damage the clay and its finish.
  • Clean gently: If your earrings require cleaning, use a soft, damp cloth to wipe away any dirt or dust. Makeup stains should come off with nail polish remover.
  • Avoid excessive bending: While polymer clay is flexible, it's best to avoid bending or twisting your earrings too much. Over time, excessive bending can cause the clay to weaken or break.
  • Be cautious with sharp objects: Avoid scratching or scraping your earrings with sharp objects, as they can leave permanent marks on the clay's surface.

Metal Findings

Our metal hardware is labeled hypoallergenic, which means it's unlikely to trigger any allergic reactions. Hypoallergenic jewelry typically consists of pure metals like platinum, gold, titanium, copper, stainless steel, fine silver, and sterling silver. However, it's worth noting that even with these metals, they might tarnish over time when exposed to moisture.

This tarnishing is a chemical reaction called oxidation. As the metal reacts with sulfur in the air, it starts to darken. Various factors can contribute to tarnishing, such as humidity, sweat, salty air, sulfur, hairspray, makeup, and household chemicals – everyday stuff that might come into contact with your jewelry and change its color. The good news is that tarnished jewelry can be easily cleaned up, but this will slowly turn your gold-plating into stainless steel!

To treat tarnished metals, you can either polish them with a jewelry cloth or create a cleaning mixture using white vinegar and baking soda with a dash of lemon juice. Take a cotton swab or ball, gently wipe over the metal parts, and then dry them off with a cloth.
